Twenty questions from every corner of the table

This is the sampler stall. The quiz draws 20 questions across the whole catalog: the origins of well-traveled dishes, the botany that decides what counts as a fruit, drinks and what goes into them, and a run of firsts. No single theme holds for long — one question sits in a kitchen, the next in an orchard, the next behind a bar. If you want one subject at depth, the site keeps narrower quizzes; this page is for a general appetite.

Where the answers come from

Every answer on Taste Test comes out of one dataset, and that dataset was filled in twice. Two authors worked separately against the same fixed keys: a question catalog plus structured tables covering dish origins, defining ingredients, cheese homelands, classic cocktail base spirits, botanical fruit-versus-vegetable calls, and USDA food-safety numbers. The two copies were then compared value by value. All 146 keys agreed — zero factual disputes. Where a dish’s home country is genuinely argued over, both authors answered at the region level instead, where the record stands uncontested.

How a round works

Each question puts four options in front of you. Pick one and the marking is instant: right or wrong, with the correct answer shown either way, so a miss still leaves you knowing the fact. After the twentieth question the page lays out a full review of your run, question by question. Your best score is saved in your browser for the next visit. No signup, no account, nothing to install — the whole quiz runs in this page.
