Fruit Quiz

A fruit quiz that files things the way botany does, not the way the market stall does — 17 questions, played right in this page.

Seventeen questions from the botanical ledger

Botany keeps its own books, and they do not always match the produce aisle. Some of what gets sold as a berry is no berry at all in the botanical ledger, and some of what sits on the vegetable shelf is filed elsewhere by the people who classify plants. That seam — where the everyday name and the botanical call part ways — is where all 17 questions live. It is a guess-the-fruit game played against the ledger. Which item lands where is the whole quiz, so no examples appear on this page.

Two authors, one answer sheet

Each classification in the answer key was entered twice. Two authors worked independently against the same fixed keys, including a structured botanical fruit-versus-vegetable table, and their finished copies were compared value by value. The result: 146 of 146 keys in agreement across the whole site dataset, with zero factual disputes. An answer only stands here because two people, writing apart, arrived at it separately.

How the quiz runs

Every question offers four options. Choose one and you learn at once whether you had it, with the correct classification shown either way. After the seventeenth question comes a full review of your answers, and your best score is kept in your browser for next time. No signup and no account — the quiz plays entirely in this page.
